I received the proof of my book, and I have been going through it. Needless to say there are errors. Most of the issues inside the book are either missing commas or design choices that need to change. The book cover is also very dark and too red. It did not print the same way it looked on screen. Stupid RGB screens and CMYK printing. It could also be the brightness adjustment of my monitor versus…who knows. Either way, you miss most of the picture and all of the details.

I’m adjusting the file, but it is hard to know how much to lighten it. I also adjusted the color to move it more towards the green/blue side and less red tones. I spoke to the printer and he will make a new proof with all of my edits, and multiple cover prints, so we can compare the varying brightness adjustments.

Check out all of the sticky notes. These tiny sticky notes have been perfect for marking the page and what needs to be fixed. There are so many, but fixing them really shouldn’t be too bad. At least, I keep telling myself that!

As you can tell, my timeline has been thrown off entirely. I am trying to find a balance of sending the book out with plenty of time to spare, and providing a quality piece. Either way it has to go out ASAP, since today is the last festival before their month off.
